On September 2nd, BITSoM witnessed an electrifying event that brought its walls to life. The Human Library took center stage, weaving together an intricate tapestry of life stories that filled the air with excitement and inspiration. This unique gathering transcended the typical lenses through which we perceive individuals, plunging deep into the personal odysseys that laid the foundation for their exceptional accomplishments.
 
The Human Library event, as it was aptly named, provided a stage for individuals to become ‘human books,’ allowing students to immerse themselves in the diverse narratives that shaped their lives. It was an experience that broke the traditional boundaries of interaction, offering an intimate look into the intricate and often unseen facets of these remarkable individuals. As human books, each participant shared their personal journeys, laden with trials, tribulations, and triumphant moments. They spoke of resilience, determination, and the transformative power of their unique life paths. This event was more than just a collection of stories; it was an embodiment of the belief that every individual’s story is a powerful testament to the human spirit’s indomitable nature.
 
In a world where professional accomplishments often take center stage, this gathering was a rare gem, providing attendees with an intimate glimpse into the intricate narratives that molded their success. Months of meticulous planning and tireless effort from a dedicated team of 17 students, backed by the invaluable support from the admin, were the driving forces behind the successful execution of this event. The collective endeavor was marked by unwavering commitment and a shared vision.
 
A special commendation is owed to Sonya Dutta Choudhary, the Founder of Sonya’s Book Box and a distinguished Columnist at Hindustan Times. Her steadfast dedication played an instrumental role in turning this event from a concept into a tangible reality. Her expertise and guidance were instrumental in navigating the complexities of event organization. Every facet of this undertaking was meticulously orchestrated. From the initial task of kindling excitement among students to the pivotal role in ensuring their active participation, every detail was handled with precision and care. This seamless coordination was a testament to the team’s exceptional organizational skills and their ability to work harmoniously towards a shared goal. The team’s dedication was palpable in every phase of the process, evident in the extensive hours spent on calls, the careful coordination of volunteers, and the thorough dissemination of forms. Their unwavering commitment and tireless work ethic were the cornerstones of the event’s success, demonstrating the remarkable capacity of teamwork and shared determination
in achieving a common objective.
 
The event was graced by the presence of 14 ‘human books,’ each hailing from diverse locations including Coimbatore, Delhi, Bandra, and BKC. Each of these individuals represented a beacon of expertise in their respective fields, bringing forth a wealth of experiences and insights for the attending students.
 
Being a member of the organizing team, witnessing the event unfold was an immensely gratifying experience. Both students and ‘books’ departed with a profound sense of fulfillment and inspiration, having engaged in meaningful exchanges of knowledge and perspectives. The quaint ringing of the temple bell, signaling the end of each session, added a whimsical touch to the proceedings, creating a memorable atmosphere.
 
The strategic reshuffling of participants infused the gathering with dynamic energy, ensuring that every interaction remained fresh and engaging. With 14 distinct corners strategically set up across the campus, students were afforded the invaluable privilege of meeting different ‘books’ at various intervals. This arrangement facilitated a rich tapestry of conversations and connections, further enhancing the depth and diversity of the learning experience. The event served as a testament to the power of human connection and the transformative potential of shared knowledge.
 
The ‘human books’ showcased remarkable generosity by generously dedicating their time and wisdom, granting students invaluable glimpses into the extraordinary journeys that defined their lives. The event was graced by luminaries representing a diverse array of fields, each leaving n indelible mark through their presence. From Suparna Mitra, the CEO of TITAN WATCHES & WEARABLES, to Monika Halan, an accomplished Author and Chairperson of the SEBI Advisory Committee, and Manjari Jaruhar, the trailblazing First Woman IPS in Bihar, the roster was teeming with accomplished individuals. Subhadip Dutta Choudhury, Chairman & CEO of HAWKINS COOKERS LTD., Aparna Piramal Raje, a versatile Writer, Educator, and Author, and
Pramad Jandhyala, Co-founder of LATENTVIEW ANALYTICS, added their unique perspectives. The event also saw the participation of luminaries such as Ashish Chauhan, the MD & CEO of the NATIONAL STOCK EXCHANGE, and Ashok Krish, Global Head of Digital Workplace at TCS, who is also an accomplished Author and Musician. Shashank Kumar, CEO and co-founder of CredShields, and Major Vandana Sharma, a Military Officer turned HR Leader, shared their transformative journeys. Luis Miranda, Chairman and co-founder of the INDIAN SCHOOL OF PUBLIC POLICY, Quasar Thakore Padamsee, Founder of THESPO & QTP, and Co-director of LITERATURE LIVE, brought their unique insights. Additionally, the event featured the esteemed presence of Ranjit Hoskote, a Poet, Translator, Art Curator, and Critic, as well as Nandini Shrikent, a distinguished Casting Director.
